Mach 4 Ludwieg Tube

Mach 4 Quiet Ludwieg Tube

QLT4 was previously installed at Purdue University. It is a Ludwieg tube design and has a 3.8 in. by 4.3 in test section. Quiet flow is achieved due to the highly-polished nature of the nozzle, particular in the throat region.

Mach 5 Quiet Ludwieg Tube

QLT5 is a 15-inch Mach 5 Ludwieg tube that was installed in conventional mode in April 2019 and is undergoing initial shakedown testing. The design of a quiet nozzle upgrade is ongoing.

AME Subsonic Wind Tunnel

The AME Subsonic Wind Tunnel features a 4 ft. by 3 ft. test section and is capable of wind speeds up to approximately 80 m/s (Remax = 5 x 106 m-1).
